Rooted in the redemptive charism of St. John de Matha, the Trinitarians embarked on a transformative journey in 2008, launching a missionary project under the Archdiocese of Guwahati in Assam, North East India. Committed to upholding the freedom of all, especially the marginalized and impoverished, the Trinitarians embraced a way of life deeply rooted in the Gospel, dedicated to acts of mercy and redemption.

Recognizing the pressing need for quality education in Assam, particularly in rural areas where over 90% of the population resides, the Trinitarians initiated the establishment of DeMatha English Medium School. Inaugurated on Feb 14, 2019, DeMatha School stands as a beacon of hope, addressing the critical need for accessible, affordable education in the region. With a local literacy rate of 72%, well below the national average, the Trinitarians are steadfast in their commitment to providing a nurturing environment where children can receive a quality education without enduring the hardships of long-distance travel or compromising their safety.

The education landscape in Assam presents significant challenges, with government schools struggling to function effectively and alarming dropout rates reaching as high as 15.36%. These statistics underscore the urgent need for intervention to break the cycle of poverty and injustice that deprives marginalized communities of opportunities for development and advancement.

Through their educational mission, the Trinitarians seek to empower the youth of Assam, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and values to break free from the shackles of ignorance and injustice. By providing a nurturing environment for holistic growth, DeMatha School endeavors to uplift communities, transform lives, and pave the way for a brighter future for the people of North East India.

In collaboration with local stakeholders and supporters, the Trinitarians continue to champion the cause of education, striving to create a more just and equitable society where every child has the opportunity to fulfill their potential and contribute meaningfully to the world.
